This Historic District/Board of Architectural Review Board is comprised of seven citizens knowledgeable of historic buildings and architecture.

The Board reviews all new construction, exterior modifications, and/or demolition of buildings within the Town of Summerville’s Downtown Historic District. The Historic District/Board of Architectural Review is appointed by Town Council and staffed by the Planning Department.

The Board has recently adopted Historic District Design Guidelines that provide direction and expectations for demolition, renovation, rehabilitation and/or new construction in the Historic District and generate awareness about the significance of Summerville's historic architecture.
